This painting depicts a 9 Squadron Lancaster over Bergen during the raid on the U-boat pens on 12th January 1945. The bomb-aimer Flt Lt Dennis Nolan clearly remembered the 'Roman Candle' effect of the Tallboy bombs exploding within the concrete roof of the pens.
